Description

This subject explores the functional organisation of grammar and how it creates meaning both through the classification of our physical, social and psychological worlds, as well as through the dynamics of negotiating and maintaining social and interpersonal relationships. This subject enables students to develop practical skills in the analysis of the grammar of real-life texts and to develop skills in evaluating the appropriateness and effectiveness of language use. Students develop an understanding of the nature and structure of grammar and text, and develop a terminology to talk about the competencies and needs of language learners in the effective teaching of language and literacy.
