The Data Analytics sub major provides an introduction to data analytics and data mining methods and their application in practice across many fields of business, industry and science to discover new information and knowledge. Data analytics is an emerging and rapidly expanding area where mathematics and statistical methods interact with powerful information technologies to improve the flow and understanding of massive amounts of data for a business. Students learn to apply state-of-the-art algorithms to their professional practice. Industry experiences, real-world projects and self-directed study, equip graduates with an understanding of the potential of analytics to transform practice.
