Fashion & Textile Design

Description

This subject introduces students to the fundamentals of textile print design and emerging digital technologies for fashion. Through a series of workshops, students explore creative methods to generate imagery, with the emphasis on individuality, originality and innovation for textile application. Students explore experimental textile deconstruction and are introduced to various print design techniques including sublimation and digital printing and screenprinting. In this subject students challenge print conventions and explore creative photographic and graphic styles. Students are introduced to techniques used to create repeat patterns and how to prepare artwork for print production in industry. They refine presentation skills for a professional portfolio. A series of lectures and workshops introduce students to contemporary textile designers with the aim to generate an awareness of creative potentials for fashion design innovation. An emphasis throughout this subject is placed on a professional and sustainable print room practice. The subject is linked to industry sponsorship opportunities.
