Description
Ongoing developments in digital media platforms and technologies are offering media producers and organisations increasing opportunities for online interactive content production in documentary and factual genres. This subject allows students to develop production and planning skills in interactive online content production, through exploring a range of conceptual, creative, and production issues involved in the development of online documentaries and similar interactive factual or socially relevant digital media. Students research and engage with issues concerning interactive online documentary across a range of broadcast and non-broadcast approaches, including stylistic approaches, platform issues, social media integration, community building, participatory approaches, digital project planning, structure and interface design for digital contents. They expand their digital planning skills through developing a detailed proposal and scoping document for an original online documentary project. They expand their digital production skills through technical workshops in a relevant software, and by working in small interdisciplinary collaborative teams to develop an original interactive online media project emerging from the earlier proposals, with a focus on socially relevant, factual or documentary contents.
